About Edward J. Bednar, M.D.

A board certified plastic surgeon with an artistic background that spans more than forty years, Edward J. Bednar offers his patients a rare combination of skilled surgical technique and award-winning artistic talent.

After graduating from medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit, Dr. Bednar’s world-class competitive status in painting, carving and sculpting were largely responsible for Dr. Bednar's acceptance into the renowned Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. This program emphasizes an artistic approach to plastic surgery and has been the philosophical foundation of Dr. Bednar's unique approach.

A visit to Edward J. Bednar Fine Art Gallery in Carmel, California showcases fine examples of Dr. Bednar's skills as a painter and sculptor. His appreciation for aesthetic balance and harmony informs his approach to hair replacement. Patients can expect an in-depth consultation with Dr. Bednar who will listen and make recommendations based on the patient's realistic expectations.

Dr. Bednar’s interest in Hair Transplant Surgery evolved out of his background in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.  His passion for sculpting, painting and wood carving has earned him award-winning status and has been an integral part in his approach to the art of Hair Transplant Surgery.

Dr. Bednar has been performing Hair Transplant Surgery since 1993 after he graduated from his residency program at the University of Miami.  Since then he has mastered the technique through his unique approach of offering patients a very natural hair line which fits an individual’s facial proportions.
